I live in Morrison, Colorado with my husband and 2 children, and absolutely love being a mother and doula! Throughout my own pregnancies, I was an avid researcher and learned so much through our Bradley Method course, our doulas and tons of reading. My sons birth was my first, and although it did not turn out how I had "planned", it was still an amazing experience in a hospital setting. My daughters birth was much different - she was born in the water at Mountain Midwifery Birth Center with the assistance of the most wonderful midwives, and it was as beautiful and peaceful as I had hoped for. I believe that my 2 very different experiences with birth allow me to be more supportive and open-minded towards others choices. I feel that assisting other women in their childbirth journey is my true calling in life!
I am certified through CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professionals Association - www.cappa.net)
I am a member of the Colorado Doulas Association - www.coloradodoulas.com
I am listed on the Doula Network - www.doulanetwork.com
I believe that pregnancy and birth are natural processes, and deserve to be treated that way. Pregnancy is not
a disease, and the birth of a baby should not be an emergency situation! That said, there are lots of decisions to make along the way, and my hope is that women will have the desire and resources available to make the choices they feel are right for them.
I believe that knowledge is power, and that it is essential for women to seek out the information and support they need to be able to make informed decisions. Empower yourself for a better birth!
I believe that all women, regardless of their birth goals, deserve the continuous labor support of another woman. It is so wonderful to have a doula present who is focused solely on the mother! It allows the partner to be more emotionally involved and confident in their role, and the mother feels completely nurtured and cared for.
Most importantly, this is your birth, and every birth is different. The choices you make should first be informed, and then validated and supported by your birth team.
