About Erica

I live in Morrison, Colorado with my husband and 2 children, and absolutely love being a mother and Doula! Throughout my own pregnancies, I was an avid researcher and learned so much through our classes, our Doulas and tons of reading. My sons birth was my first, and although it did not turn out how I had "planned", it was still a wonderful experience in a hospital setting. My daughters birth was exactly what I had envisioned.  She was born in the water at Mountain Midwifery Birth Center with the assistance of amazing midwives, and it was as beautiful and peaceful as I had hoped for. I believe that my 2 very different experiences with birth allow me to be more supportive and open-minded towards others choices. I feel that assisting other families during their childbirth journey is my true calling in life!

I am certified through CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professionals Association - www.cappa.net)

I have completed the Advanced Practive Birth Support Training through Mountain Midwifery Birth Center (Find my bio here: www.cocoonbirth.com)

I am a member of the Colorado Doulas Association (www.coloradodoulas.com)

Your choice in a Doula is a very personal one, and I believe you should interview several Doulas to find the one that you really connect with. I don't expect that I'll be the perfect fit for every family, but I genuinely hope that you will find the perfect Doula for you!

I strive to be a calm, experienced and confident presence in your birth environment.  I have studied the Bradley Method, Hypnobirthing and Birthing From Within, and have experience in a variety of birth settings.  I always love to learn more from my clients about tools that they hope to incorporate into their labor.

I believe that pregnancy and birth are natural processes, and deserve to be treated that way. Pregnancy is not a disease, and the birth of a baby should not be an emergency situation! That said, there are a lot of decisions to make along the way and details to consider, and my hope is that women will have the desire and resources available to make the choices they feel are right for them.

I believe that all women, regardless of their birth goals, deserve the continuous labor support of another woman. It is so wonderful to have a Doula present who is focused solely on you! It allows your partner to be more emotionally involved and confident in their role, and you to feel completely nurtured and cared for.

Most importantly, this is your birth, and every birth is different. The choices you make should first be informed, and then validated and supported by your birth team.

"Speak tenderly to them.  Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting.  Always have a cheerful smile.  Don't only give them your care, but give your heart as well."
